(C.H. Feb.1830) "Heart Trouble Causes Death of D. A. McAninch"

"Daniel A. McAninch, age 80 years, life-long resident of this community, passed away at his

home on West Main street Monday evening at about 9:30. Heart trouble was the cause of his death,

from which he had been suffering for some time. Mr. McAninch, with his wife, had celebrated his

60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 23rd last, at which time both were very poorly. Surviving were

the wife and four children - John and George McAninch, of Chicago; Mrs. Maude Bilderbeck,

of Newberry, Fla., and William McAninch, at home. Mr. McAninch was a member of the M.E.

church, Masonic, I.O.O.F., and K. of P. lodges and the Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held

at the home this Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Martini. Burial will be in the

local I.O.O.F. cemetery. The Masonic service will be read at the grave." [18]

(C.H. Nov.1830) "Mrs. Rhoda McAninch, 82, Dies After Long Illness"

"Mrs. Rhoda McAninch, age 82, died at her home in Coatesville, early Saturday morning. Mrs.

McAninch had been very poorly the past two years. She, with her late husband, Dan McAninch,

lived to celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary on Dec. 23, 1929. Mr. McAninch passed

away last February. She had lived in Coatesville most of her life and had raised a large family

of children. Surviving her are three sons, William and John at home; George, of Chicago; and

Mrs. Maude Bilderbeck, of Florida. Funeral services were held from the home at 10:30 Monday,

conducted by Rev. Carl Martini. Burial in the local cemetery.

Obituary Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they

that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled. Blessed are

the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.

Those virtues with their consolations and glorification of character, were exemplified with

sincerity and simplicity in the life of Rhoda B. McAninch, who departed this life Saturday,

November 22nd, 1930, aged 82 years, 7 months and 25 days. She was born March 27th, 1848,

near Abington, Virginia, in the Blue Ridge mountains. When six years old her parents, Thomas

and Mary Wilson, traveled overland through Kentucky and Illinois to Iowa.

Afterward they returned to Indiana, where she met and was married to Daniel A. McAninch, of

Coatesville, on Dec. 23, 1869. Their sixtieth wedding anniversary was celebrated in December,

1929. Their union was blessed by eleven children, of whom Dora Ellen Swain, Alvin, Mary,

Arthur, Atlas, Frederick Thomas, and Vernon Wilson (sic, Vern), wait to bid her affectionate

welcome in that glorious land of reunited souls. Those surviving are John Freeman, George Daniel

Elwood, Maud Bilderbeck, and William Morton. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal

church and particularly interested in missionary work.

She belonged to Fillmore Chapter No. 189, O.E.S., a life member and Past Grand (sic) of Banner

Rebekah Lodge No. 357, and a Past Chief of Coatesville Pythian Sisters. Her entire life of nearly

83 years was spent in devoted service to her parents, her family, her friends, and her chosen

activities. In the Roll of Rolls and on a spotless page, will be inscribed the record of a keen,

retentive mind, a conscience which conceded nothing to wrong, a simple life, a love for all that
