Of the five McAninch males in 1830, one of them, William, is probably a son of William

[died 1813, Casey County], who later moves again, to DeSoto County, Mississippi

[Kathy McAninch's research, MFHN Vol.II No.4 Dec.1994 pgs.1994-06-to-10].

It is also known that Jesse [son of William] remained in Pulaski County, Kentucky,

where he married Jane Staats [Stotts?], May 5, 1835, and still living there in 1840:

However, the other Samuel [son of William] is not very well documented, before he

moves west to Missouri in 1835, and remains there, in Cass County, Missouri, for the

rest of his life. "History of Bates and Cass Counties, Missouri, 1883", pg.540, states

"In 1828 he married Miss Margaret Myers, a native of East Tennessee, born 1812,

. . . daughter of Charles and Rebecca Myers"; (Samuel McAninch, age 21 in 1828),

although the ‘county history’ article does not say where they were married.

It is known that this Samuel never appeared on the Casey County Tax Records,

and it is possible that he was in Giles County in 1830 with his new wife

[McAninch, Saml, 1 M 20-30, 1 M 70-80, 1 F 20-30, 1 F 60-70 (with her parents?),

or McAninah, S., 1 M 20-30, 1 F 15-20 ? (more likely to be this one)].

The McAninch land-transfer records of early Giles County were reported previously

[Kathy McAninch’s articles, in MFHN Vol.II No.4 Dec.1994 pgs.1994-06-to-10].

The Myers and Samuel McAninch connection is obvious (1831, 1834, 1836, 1837),

and is strong evidence for this theory, for two points:

Samuel McAninch probably married Margaret Myers in Giles County, Tennessee,

and that this is indeed Samuel McAninch, b. 1807, son of the original William.

The 1836 and 1837 land sales to Davidson Myers probably occurred after Samuel

found his new land in Cass County, Missouri. Later, in 1841, Samuel and his brothers

sell 286 acres in Casey County, Kentucky, which was the land originally obtained by

their father, William (elder William, who died in 1813). Samuel is represented by

"George McAninch ... [of Casey County] attorney in fact", who is believed to be

George A. McAninch [b.1794, age 47, son of the elder Daniel McAninch].

The same land-transfer records also establish that John McAninch was in Giles County

in 1819, for the first two of 13 separate land transactions, and the last three were

recorded in 1841, when John was about 61 years old. It is not known how long John

McAninch lived, nor whether he died in Giles County, Tennessee, or if he went west to

DeSoto County, Mississippi, with his children, and died there.
