[re McAninch family] The young people came to the social activities. A son Emerson was a great

evangelist and lived in Michigan. He came home and would preach a week at the church. Mrs. Kay

(Bud) Breckenridge and sister Mrs. O’Brian of Creston are granddaughters of these people. There

was Berniece, Pauline, Clevie and Sammy (girls) in the family. Elders buried at Ringgold. [pg. 46]

[Oscar McAninch Family Gathering]

Wednesday a number of relatives assembled at the O. L. McAninch home for a dinner in the

honor of Rev. and Mrs. Emerson McAninch, who were visiting from Muskegon, Michigan.

Those present for the dinner were Mrs. Lula Dickinson, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cronin, Catherine

Lou and Shirley Ann of Maryville, Missouri; Herbert H. Jackson of Stanberry, Missouri; Mr. and

Mrs. C. B. Thompson, Carmen and Kay, Mr. and Mrs. Earl A. Bayless, Jeanne, Kathleen,

Marlene and Mac, Weldon and Miss Pauline McAninch, O. L. McAninch, Cleva and Sammie,

and Rev. and Mrs. McAninch. The day was spent in visiting and taking pictures.

Rev. Emerson McAninch also preached to good crowds at the Ringgold Evangelical church

at this time. Rev. Walter Cerka was mentioned as still the Ringgold pastor in June 1936. The

Ringgold Evangelical church was probably closed within about a year of this occasion. [pg. 67]

McAninch Family

There are sixteen known persons with the McAninch surname buried in Ringgold cemetery,

easily more than any other family. [pg. 77]

 

Joseph P. McAninch (2 April 18219 March 1907) was born in Casey, Kentucky, one of

twelve children of Samuel and Polly (Skidmore) McAninch. Joseph married Elizabeth Jane Quiett

on 21 May 1845 at Paris, Illinois. Joseph and Elizabeth had ten children [Note 5 /Frank],

some of them spending all or much of their lives in Ringgold county and several of them, like

Joseph and Elizabeth, either being buried or having offspring buried in Ringgold cemetery.
