III. Land Sale, by Daniel McA., same 100 acres on Little Sinking Creek, 60 pounds Virginia currency

 

[left margin notes] “Conveyance Daniel McAninch to Melon Haworth for 100 acres of land on the North side of Nolachukey River on Little Sinking Creek

 

This indenture made this 21st [23rd? 25th?] day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-seven between Daniel McAninch of the one part and Melon Haworth of the other part both of Greene County and State of Tennessee ... for ... sixty pounds Virginia currency by the said Haworth in hand paid to the said McAninch ... one hundred acres in the County of Greene ... on the North side of Nolachukey River beginning at two maple saplings and two ashes ... [land description exactly same as the 1796 deed]

 

In witness whereof the said McAninch hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.

 

Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of us

[Witnesses]: Thomas Brown, [and] Jesse Wright

 

 

 

State of Tennessee, Greene County Court, October [Session?] 1808 

Then was the execution of this conveyance duly proven in open Court by the solemn affirmation

of Jesse Wright one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be Registered

Note: This sale was made in October, 1797, but not recorded until December, 1808, probably in connection with another transaction involving Melon Haworth (but not Daniel McAninch).

 

Could this be the Daniel McAninch who first appears on the Tax Books of Lincoln County, 1799

(one white male over 21, another over 16) [9], and in both of the 1800 [10] and 1810 Census [11]?
