Pennsylvania: 1890: “schedule ... Union veterans and widows of veterans for Jefferson Co. PA” –

Elijah H. McAninch, 2nd Lieutenant, Co. G, 105th reg., PA vol., enlisted 16 Sept. 1861, discharged 19 Dec. 1864; living in Brookville; hearing defective.”

Elijah H. McAninch, private, Co. E, 8th reg., PA vol., enlisted 22 Apr. 1861, discharged July 1861; living in Brookville.”, and

“Jane McAninch, widow of Hiram McAninch, private, Co. G, 105th reg., lived in Emrackville.”

“The two Elijahs are doubtless the same person. He appears to have served a three month tour followed by a three year enlistment. He is, I'm quite sure, the same Elijah Hamilton McAninch who was born in 1841 shortly after the death in 1840 of his father and namesake Elijah McAninch, husband of Jane Crowe.” [previous McAninch F. H. NL., Vol. V, No. 3, August 1997, pg. 20-22]

“The younger Elijah was the brother of Nancy Ellen McAninch who was my g-g-grandmother.

[speculation] in the newsletter that a N.E.M. on a tombstone may refer to her and indeed it might, but Nancy and her husband Henry P. Holt moved to Delaware c.1865 and were still there into the 1880s. I haven't found their death records yet, however, so I don't know when and where they died.”

Received this from Dick Cleary, 615 Wilson Avenue, Dallastown, Pennsylvania 17313.
