Editor’s comment: wish I had been smart enough to do this analysis in 1997 (Frank McAninch) |
|
"Only seven of nine" seen in this survey. The Tombstone Hoppin’ 1981 book (TH’1981) and |
the (Arthur) Leroy McAninch and Harold S. McAninch survey (HSM'1994) both list the same |
nine McAninchs buried in the McAninch Farm Cemetery. However, only seven of these graves |
were reported on Blanche Blizzard’s 1995 cemetery survey. Stones of two graves are not shown |
on Blanche’s "March 1995" survey drawing (although either one could be the "Unknown" grave). |
The two burials not reported on the "March 1995" drawing are |
Elijah McAninch ("Elijah" in TH'1981-2of9) ("Elijah" in HSM'1994-E.7.), and |
Sarah McAninch ("Sarah C." in TH'1981-7of9) ("Sarah" in HSM'1994-S.2.). |

|
"H.H. McAninch" was featured as "Tombstone of the Month" in 2001: "H. H. McAninch was |
an early settler of Beaver Township, Jefferson County, having come from Dauphin County, PA. |
He settled on land near Ohl and established a home for his family. Shortly thereafter he was |
joined by his brother, William McAninch and his family, who moved to Jefferson County from |
Armstrong County. H. H. McAninch died May 15, 1875, aged 56 years, 1 month, and 5 days, and |
is buried in the family grave yard on the McAninch homestead in Beaver Township". [Note 5] |
