(1772) Northumberland County, created 21 Mar. 1772, made from Bedford (northern townships)

and Cumberland (northern townships), and parts of Berks, Lancaster, and Northampton counties,

with the north-central Non-County area (north to the New York line) [Note 7, p.209] [Note 8]

(1773) Westmoreland County created 26 Feb. 1773 from Bedford Co. [Note 7 p.261, 1790 p.266],

and Virginia, extinct West Augusta District, 1773-1776, area in Westmoreland Co. [Note 7, p.273]

(Virginia, extinct) Yohogania County, 4 years, 1776-1780, overlapped Westmoreland [7, p.274]

(Virginia) Monongalia Co. (now W.V.), est. 8 Nov. 1776, overlapped Westmoreland [7, p.275]

and (Virginia) Ohio County (now W.V.), est. 8 Nov. 1776, overlapped Westmoreland [7, p.277]

Daniel McAninch married Mary Smith, Cumberland County, Peters Township, 1776

(1776) Daniel McAninch was probably still living in Peters Township, Cumberland County,

consistent with the Cumberland County tax lists (although there is no 1776 record) [Note 10].

(1776) Daniel McAninch (McNench) married Mary Smith on 11 June 1776, by Rev. John King,

at the Conococheague Presbyterian Church, Church Hill, Peters Township, Cumberland County,

Colony of Pennsylvania (now in Franklin County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) [Note 20].

(1776) Daniel was not a member of the Conococheague Presbyterian Church, so, Mary Smith

probably was a member of the church (and her parents? lots of Smith families), since the church

pastor, Rev. John King, performed the marriage, and recorded it in his church records [Note 20].

(1776) (American Revolution) a "John McNinch" was listed as a Private in "Captain Robert

Cluggage's Company of the 1st Pennsylvania Regiment of the Continental Line 1776" [Note 21]

Daniel McAninch, Bedford County, Dublin Township, 1778

(1777-1778) Daniel and his new bride moved a little west, to Dublin Township, Bedford County.

Dublin Township was established in 1767, on the frontier, originally part of Cumberland County,

transferred in 1771 into the new Bedford County; the land area of the 1770’s Dublin Township is

now in present-day Dublin Township, Fulton County, and Dublin Township, Huntingdon County.

In the 1770’s, Dublin Township, Bedford County, was adjacent to western Cumberland County,

'just over the hill' across the county line from Fannet Township and Peters Township, where the

Conococheague Creek flows through Church Hill on its way south to the Potomac [Note 20].
