Samuel McAninch (1789-1859), grave number 15 on the “Phillips Estate” map [1], was born (circa) 5 Feb. 1789 (not 1783)] [Note 12]. Samuel McAninch died July 30, 1859, aged 70 years, 5 months, and 25 days, and is the man described in this report, who donated the half-acre of land for the Pleasant Hill Methodist Episcopal Church building and this cemetery [20]. For Samuel’s wife, (Mary) Polly (Skidmore) McAninch (born ca.1796-1797, died 1847-1850) [21]; it is not known exactly when or where she died, and she might also be buried in this cemetery (the ‘family plot’) (speculation) [21]. |

Daniel McAninch (1819-1897), the second son of Samuel and (Mary) Polly (Skidmore) McAninch, married Phebe Pike (1827-1883) (see Pike section, below). Phebe Pike was the daughter of Tristram Pike (b.1803) and Margaret T. (Buntain) Pike (b.ca.1805, d.1891); Daniel and Phebe were married on 7 Sept. 1843, in Hendricks County, and, in 1849, Daniel McAninch was one of the five Trustees of the Pleasant Hill M. E. Church [20]. Daniel McAninch and Phebe (Pike) McAninch are both buried in the Stilesville Cemetery, Hendricks County, but two infant daughters were buried here, in the ‘family plot’, the (Old) Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery: |

Joseph McAninch (1821-1907), the third son of Samuel and Polly (Skidmore) McAninch, married Elizabeth Jane Quiett (1825-1913), on 21 May 1845 , in Paris, Edgar County, Illinois. Joseph returned to Indiana with his new wife, where their first ten children were born in Hendricks County. After the Civil War, Joseph and his family went to Ringgold County, Iowa, in 1866, where two more children were born later. Joseph died in 1907, and Elizabeth died in 1913; they are both buried in the Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. However, two young sons were buried in Indiana: |
