Census Records in the United Kingdom [England, Ireland (through 1911), Scotland, Wales, |
|
Channel Islands, Jersey, etc.] are restricted under Crown Copyright (image files are hard to find), |
|
and all of these the census records are closed to the public for 100 years after their date, so |
|
[1] only index files and transcriptions are readily available (some images on pay websites), and |
|
[2] the 1911 census records are the latest available today (wait until 2021 for the 1921 records). |
|
|
|
A clear majority of the McA/Ininch adults in the Scotland 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, and 1881 |
|
census records were born in Ireland [(northern) Ireland, still a British Crown Colony when all |
|
of these census records were enumerated], showing the extent of the migration across the ‘ditch’ |
|
[about 20 miles across the North Channel from County Antrim, Ireland, to western Scotland]. |
|
|
|
And a personal note about the arbitrary ‘publication dates’ for the two parts (part 1, 1821-1871, |
|
and part 2, 1881-1911): June 10th is my mother’s birthday, and July 24th is my father’s birthday. |
