“It was stamped by Iowa State Dept. Of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics, Received Sep 3, 1942. If the Township entered on the birth certificate was not correct at that time I do not think Daddy would have cared — he got the certificate that he needed and that was what mattered! |

“… genealogical records should be very accurate and verifiable, but … [do not know] exactly where the births took place. We know that they happened! Betty Jo and I discussed possibilities of Mariah going to either her mother’s home for the births, or to the home of Cyrus’ mother … both mothers were alive after 1900 [Mary Brison (Cox) Case, died 6 Dec. 1902, and Elizabeth Jane (Quiett) McAninch, died 17 May 1913, both in Ringgold County]. It seems that any scenario could have been possible for births in the late 1800’s and we thought that should probably be taken into consideration.” |

Since I actually did mis-quote Rosalie, which was my own fault, it is necessary and proper to publish these updates. So, in conclusion [no further speculation in these pages], the most significant evidence seems to be in 1878, when Cyrus sold his land in Riley Twp. to Henry Stiles. And, the land that Oscar Lyle McAninch bought was in Lotts Creek Twp., not Riley Twp. (unless the Ringgold Co. land records are wrong). However, these are just land records; the actual birth events may have occurred elsewhere. |
