This indenture made the thirtyeth [sic] day of September one thousand eight hundred and

seventeen between Tho’s B. Walthall of the County of Williamson and State of Tennessee of

the one part and John McAninch of the County of Giles and State aforesaid of the other part

Witnesseth that the said Thomas B. Walthall for and in consideration of the sum of two

thousand dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath and by

these presents doth grant bargain sell convey and confirm to the said John McAninch his heirs

and assigns forever one certain tract of land situate in Giles County on the waters of

Richland creek of Elk river bounded as follows

Beginning at a stake four hundred twenty eight and a half pole west of George Doherty’s

south west corner which is a large white oak on a small bluff on the west side of the creek

running north two hundred twenty seven poles and one fourth of a pole to a stake thence

West four hundred and sixty nine poles to a stake thence South two hundred seventy seven

poles and a fourth of a pole to a stake thence East four hundred sixty nine poles to the Beginning

containing six hundred sixty six and two third acres

To have and to hold forever together with all the advantages belonging to the same. And I the said

Thomas B. Walthall do forever warrant and defend the above described tract of land to the said

John McAninch his heirs and assigns forever from all lawful claims of all persons whatsoever.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above

Then was the within deed of conveyance from Thomas B. Walthall to John McAninch produced

in court and proven to be the act and deed of the said Thomas B. Walthall by the oaths of

Sterling H. Lester and John Keenan the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be

Certified for Registration

In testimony I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court at office in this 6th

day of June 1818
