This indenture made this 16th day of February one thousand eight hundred and sixteen between

Aaron Brown of one part and John McAninch of the other part both of the County Giles [sic] and

State of Tennessee. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of a certain sorrel mare and roan

filly, which said Brown hath received, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted

bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey unto said

McAninch a certain tract or parcel of land lying & situated in County and State aforesaid, on the

west side of Richland creek of Elk river.

Beginning at said McAninch’s corner, on a small beech standing on the western boundary line

and running due east twenty nine chain and fifty links along said McAninch’s line to John

Barnett’s corner on a sugar tree thence south along said Barnett’s line to his south west corner

thence west along Telman Daniel’s line to the original western line thence north along original

western line to the Beginning containing by survey ninety four acres be the same more or less

To have and hold the above described land and granted premises with all the appurtenances

thereto belonging to the said John McAninch to the only proper use and behoof of him the

said John McAninch his heirs and assigns forever and said Aaron Brown for himself his heirs

executors administrators and assigns doth hereby promise covenant and agree to and with the

said Jno [sic] McAninch his heirs and assigns that he the said Aaron Brown his heirs executors

&tc [etc] shall and will at all times represent and defend the above described lands and

premises to the said John McAninch his heirs &tc against the claim or claims of any person or

persons whatsoever, whenever the Indian claim shall be extinguished by the Government of the

United States

In witness whereof said Aaron Brown hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year

above written.

Then was the within deed of conveyance from Aaron Brown to John McAninch produced in open

Court and acknowledged by the said Aaron Brown to be his act and deed and ordered to be

Certified for Registration
