“This cemetery was destroyed in 1967 while some bull-dozing was being done close by to level some timber (trees & brush). The person doing the work did not know of the whereabouts of the cemetery (which was covered by tall grass). The owners of the farm were away at the time and the worker did not see the grave markers. The farm was in the Johnson Family for over 100 years and would never have [sic] destroyed it purposely. The farm was sold in 1974 after the death of Allen Johnson. The wife of Allen (address Stillsville, Ind. [sic]) wrote the inscriptions down while she was living there and with this information I wish to report there is a mistake on the sheet at the Library. After Rebecca King it should not state that she is the wife of John King. A marker which was not listed (left out) says: |

At my request, in May, 1998, a staff member at the Indiana State Library |

agreed to check their acquisition records, and then she reported that their |
|
|
source of these lists was “Daughters of the American Revolution, |
|
|
Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter, Danville, Indiana”, but, that library staff member |
|
|
could not say exactly which of the different cemetery listings in their bound |
|
|
“Hendricks County” book came from that DAR chapter (so, this hand-written |
|
|
list for the Pleasant Hill cemetery might, or might not, be a “DAR List”). |
