Job Hadley was born in 1816, in North Carolina, son of Joshua Hadley (1783-1847), and grand-son of Joshua Hadley (1743-1816), the common ancestor of Job Hadley and Milton Elwood Hadley (below). Job is listed as a Surveyor in Hendricks County in the 1850 census [37], and as a Farmer in the 1860 census [38]. There are no children shown on either census. “four children -- Silas, died 3 14, 1844 [Quaker date], aged 6 months and 4 days [Silas b.1843]; Martha [b.1847], Ezra [b.1849] and Cyrus [b.1852], all died in infancy, from 6 weeks to 9 months old” [39]. |

After Samuel McAninch died, in July 1859, Job Hadley, Surveyor, was one of the three Commissioners appointed by the Hendricks County Court in the settlement of Samuel’s estate, which lead to the land partition in 1861 [27]. Job Hadley and his family were Quakers, and were almost certainly not members of the Pleasant Hill M. E. Church. Job died in 1895, and his wife Tacy died in 1899; they are both buried in the Hadley Friends Cemetery, Clay Township, Hendricks County [5d]. |

Milton Elwood Hadley “was born in Center Township in December 1829, a son of Simon T. Hadley, the second Clerk of Hendricks County” [Simon T. Hadley, 1801-1872], and, in 1885, [Milton] “now resides in the village of Amo. His wife was Jane Phillips, daughter of John Phillips. They have no children, but have an adopted daughter --- Sarah” [40]. Milton Elwood Hadley was the grand-son of Simon Hadley (1765-1843), and great-grand-son of Joshua Hadley (1743-1816), the common ancestor of both Job Hadley (above) and Milton Elwood Hadley. |

In the 1850 census, Milton Hadley is a single man, age 23 [41], and a neighbor of Samuel McAninch [10]; in the 1860 census, Milton and his wife Jane are living in Clay Township, with no children of their own, and with a 13-year-old girl, relationship unknown: |

Milton Elwood (“M. E.”) died in 1887, and his wife Jane died later, 1909 [5b] or 1914 [39]; Milton Elwood and Jane (Phillips) Hadley are both buried in the Amo Cemetery [5b]. It is believed that they did have a child, and that they buried an infant daughter in the (Old) Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery: |
