Notes and Sources (Daniel McAninch 1770s to 1790, Pennsylvania)

[1]

Daniel McAninch (DOB), born ca.1748-1749 (b.bef.1750), analysis of multiple sources:

1. b.ca.1748-1749 (b.bef.1750): Cumberland Co., Peters Twp., "Peters Freemen 1770"

"Freeman" meant a single, free man, at least 21 years of age, and not a landholder, so,

     age at least 21 in 1770, b.ca.1748-1749 (born before 1750) [Notes 10, 10.a, 10.f, 12].

2. b.bef.1755: married 11 June 1776 (age 21 or over), Conococheague Presbyterian

Church, Cumberland County, Penn.; so, Daniel, >= 21 in 1776, was born before 1754

3. b.bef.1756: "freeholder" (age 21 or over), in Dublin Township election, May 11, 1778,

Bedford County, Pennsylvania; so, Daniel, >= 21 in 1778, was born before May 1756

4. b.bef.1765: ‘45 & over’ on the 1810 census (the 1790 and 1820 census records both

indicate b.bef.1775, and 1800 Kentucky census lost in a fire during the War of 1812)

Daniel McAninch and Mary Smith, Place of Birth (BP): born (northern) Ireland

(prob. County Antrim, Ulster Province); only one of their children (their son Daniel,

b.ca.1796-1798, Ky, d. Aug.1891, in Indiana), lived long enough for the 1880 census,

which was the first census where people were asked where their parents had been born.

And, in the 1880 census, about 58 years after the elder Daniel's death (d.ca.1822),

their son Daniel, age 82, reported 'father born Ireland' and 'mother born Ireland'

(McAninch, Daniel, Farmer, Putnam Co., Indiana, 1880 NARA T9 Roll 306 pg.434'D').

'County Antrim, Ulster Province, (northern) Ireland' determined by surname research,

in our "Surname" article, "A Look at the Mc(ac)A/I/Ninch(sh) Surname(s), and Where

They Might be from in Ireland", II. The Ireland Connection, Clues to County Antrim,

Ulster Province, (Northern) Ireland: Many clues point first to Ulster Province . . . then

specifically to County Antrim . . . http://www.mcaninch.net/Surname/mcsurpg0.htm
