Early McAninch Pioneers in Iowa |
Whittled out of the massive 1803 Louisiana Purchase, Iowa became our 29th state in 1846, |
and the first two McAninch families (Samuel James McAninch and William McAninch) arrived |
in Iowa only a few years later (circa 1849). The combination of the Iowa state census records |
(1851, 1852, 1854, and 1856), along with the Federal 1850 and 1860 records, can be used to |
trace these two families through Iowa before the Civil War. |
