2G:10   There are 1800, 1807, and 1810 ‘sightings’ of another Daniel (or David?) McA/Ninch,

born 1774-1784 [Ireland? Pennsylvania?] in western Pennsylvania, discussed in the article

“Daniel (or David?) McA/Ninch, early western Pennsylvania (second generation?)” [10].

Second Generation? Third Generation? John McAninch born 23 Feb. 1821

And there is a fifth ‘Second Generation’ John McAninch (or is this a ‘Third Generation’ John?):

2G:11   Another John McAninch was born 23 Feb. 1821, in Pennsylvania (probably born in

Armstrong County, since Clarion County not set off until 1839). This John McA. b.1821

married Isabella Walls, ca.1845, probably in Clarion County; John and Isabella had nine

children, and lived their lives in Rimersburg, Clarion County. John died 26 Apr. 1902,

Isabella died 18 Sept. 1908, and both are buried in the Rimersburg Cemetery.

So, who are the parents of this John McAninch (John, b.1821)? A quick look at the family

records of the six ‘First Generation’ McA/Ninch men rules out (almost) all of them:

a.

Daniel McAninch (1G:1), born 1750-1755, and William McAninch (1G:4), b.bef.1765

both went to Kentucky, and all ten of their son’s lines are known [no John b.1821]

b.

John McAninch (1G:2), born ca.1760 [Armstrong County pioneer], and his three son’s

families are known: John McAninch’s sons are the ‘Three Brothers’ William (2G:7),

John (2G:8), and Henry (2G:9), in the Jefferson County history books [no John b.1821]

c.

Archibald McNinch (1G:3) went to Ohio in 1816 [no John b.1821 in Pennsylvania]

d.

William McAninch (1G:5) had only one possible child, a son (or grand-son?),

a male born 1810-1820 [born before the 1820 census] [could this be John b.1821(?);

only if John’s 1821 birthdate is incorrect (Rimersburg Cemetery records)]

e.

Henry McAninch (1G:6) had 3 daughters, no sons, and went to Ohio [no John b.1821]

A quick look at the family records of the four ‘Second Generation’ McAninch’s uncovers

the only other possible ‘father candidate’ [Henry McAninch (2G:9), born 16 Feb. 1802]

f.

William H. McAninch (2G:7), b.1783-1784 (son of John McAninch, 1G:2), married

Isabel Hopkins, and founded the ‘Jefferson County McAninch’s. William and Isabel

had twelve children, including son John A. McAninch, b. 1806-1807, Brady’s Bend,

Armstrong (now Clarion) County, who married Maria Reed and raised 8 children in

Jefferson County [William and Isabel did not have another son John b.1821]
