Eleven early McA/Ninch’s in western Pennsylvania |
|
|
|
In early western Pennsylvania, circa 1780’s to 1820’s, there were eleven different McA/Ninch men |
|
(an Archibald, two Daniel’s, two Henry’s, three John’s, and three William’s). It was difficult to get |
|
clear title in the ‘Depreciation Lands’ north and west of the Allegheny River; only two of the six |
|
‘First Generation’ men remained in this area, while the other four moved on to Kentucky and Ohio. |
|

|
In fact, John McAninch (born ca.1760, Ireland; Allegheny County and Armstrong County pioneer) |
|
was the only ‘First Generation’ man with sons that remained in western Pennsylvania, and his three |
|
sons (William, John, and Henry) are the ‘Three Brothers’ in the Jefferson County history books. |
|
|
|
And there is new information on two of the ‘Second Generation’ (and/or ‘Third Generation’?) men: |
|
1. Daniel (or David?) McA/Ninch, 1800 and 1807, Allegheny County and Armstrong County, and |
|
2. John McAninch, b.1821, could have been a grand-son of John McAninch, through his son Henry. |
