Arkansas: Boone County 1860’s-1880’s

 

EOFF - John W. Eoff was born in Madison County, KY, on March 15, 1795, to Isaac Eoff

and Margaret Knox. . . . He married Lucy Shaw, born March 10, 1804 (she is believed to have

been his second wife). . . . John and Lucy Eoff moved to that part of Carroll County, AR,

that would later become Boone County. . . . John and Lucy Eoff died in Boone County, AR,

between 1860 and 1867 and were buried in the Eoff family cemetery in Boone County. . . . 

John W. Eoff, Jr., born April 16, 1832, married, first, Lovina Hester Ann McAninch, and

married, second, Margaret Eoff McMahan, daughter of Samuel C. and Azubah Eoff, and widow

of James J. McMahan. [History of Boone County, pg.231

 

TURNEY -- Clanton Lewis Turney . . . was born on Feb. 23, 1862, to John Clanton Turney

and Phoebe Jane Scott in what was then Carroll County, AR. . . . Clanton married

Martha Emma Eoff, March 16, 1884, and both parties were listed as residents of Elmwood,

Boone County, AR. Martha was the daughter of John W. Eoff and Hester Ann McAninch.

She was born Feb. 10, 1867, probably in Izard County, AR. Unfortunately, Martha died

Aug. 21, 1885. No known children survived this union. . . . Clanton Turney died Feb. 18, 1942,

found in 1860 census (Carroll County) and 1870 census (Izard County); Hester died 3 Apr. 1875,

Izard County, and John married(2) Margaret Eoff ‘Peggy’ McMahan (1880 census, Izard County).
