Multiple John McAninch’s in early western Pennsylvania |

There were multiple John McAninch’s in early western Pennsylvania. In the previous issue, |
|
we looked at the evidence for John McAninch, Armstrong County pioneer. John, born ca.1760, |
|
in Ireland, was in western Pennsylvania in 1790, and subsequent. This John (‘elder’) had a son |
|
John (‘younger’), born ca.1800, married Barbara (Shoup?), and went to Wyandot County, Ohio. |
|
Another John McAninch was born 23 Feb. 1821, in Pennsylvania, married Isabella Walls, and |
|
lived in Rimersburg, Clarion County, where they both died, buried in the Rimersburg Cemetery. |
|
Who are the parents of this John McAninch? (John, born 5 Feb. 1821, Penn., died 26 Apr. 1902). |
|
John and Isabella were married ca.1845, probably Clarion County, Penn., and had nine children. |
|
In this issue, we examine Archibald McA/Ninch, born 1760-1765, in Ireland; Archibald was in |
|
western Pennsylvania before 1800, and moved to Ohio, in 1816. And since Archibald moved his |
|
family to Ohio in 1816, he could not have fathered anyone born in Pennsylvania after that time, |
|
so, Archibald is not the father of the John McAninch in Rimersburg |
