“Lora and Ed Vaught Hand Colored Photo”, estimated 1945-1950 (after W.W.II)

[16.a.]

There was another photo of James and Viola, also hand colored, [so it is] assumed

they were done at the same time. Viola died 15 Sept. 1946; if the two hand-colored

photographs were done at the same time, the original photographs must have been

taken before Sept. 1946. Of course, the hand-colored renditions could have been

done at any time later, from the original black-and-white photographs. Unfortunately,

there is no photographer, no studio name, and no date imprinted on this picture.

[42]

There is a political poster in the background of this photo . . . [Herbert Hoover?]

Jill said “The boy behind my grandfather [Eddie Vaught] you really can only see

the hair but I think it is Hoy [Vaught] . . . and he looks a little older. If he is 15 it

would be the 1932 election. Or perhaps they just had up a picture of the president.”
