Samuel probably born 1806-1807, not 1805; 1) “six when his father died”, and his father,

William McAninch, died 1813, Casey County, Kentucky (names his five sons in his Will);

2) matches most of Census records, 43 in 1850, 56 in 1860, 63 in 1870; 74 in 1880.

And, Casey County set off in 1807, land was previously in Lincoln County, Kentucky.

[3]

His father, William McAninch, was not “a native of Kentucky”. William born before 1765,

possibly in Pennsylvania, and married 7 Oct. 1796, Greene County, (eastern) Tennessee.

See “Daniel McAninch, Part II: From Pennsylvania, 1790, to Lincoln County, Kentucky”,

MFHN v.IX n.2 April 2001 pg.2001-11.

[4]

“mother's maiden name was Ladosia Rawson”; however, the 1796 marriage records in

Greene County, (eastern) Tennessee, show “Doshea Dosey” [see “Daniel McAninch and

William McNinch, Greene County, Tennessee, 1796-1797”; MFHN v.V n.4 pg.1997-29].

[5]

not “Howell”; she married James Harrell, a well-known Revolutionary War veteran who

settled in Pulaski County; Pulaski County Marriage Records, 1851-1863, Book II, pg. 128

[6]

William, son of the Samuel McAninch in the first biographical sketch above.

[7]

In her husband Samuel’s biography (above), Margaret is “a native of East Tennessee”.

[8]

In her husband Samuel’s biography (above), the family came to Jackson County in 1835.

[9]

Nancy McAninch, born ca. 1837 (43 in 1850 census, 62 in 1870), probably born in

Pulaski County, Kentucky, daughter of Jonathan and Telitha ‘Litha’ (Turpin) McAninch.

[10]

Jonathan McAninch, born ca. 1799-1800, Kentucky (probably Lincoln County),

son of William McAninch (born bef. 1765, died 1813, Casey County, Kentucky), and

Laodieca (Ladosia Rawson) (Doshea Dosey) McAninch (born bef. 1765).

[11]

Julia Ann Hon (1845-1905) is “Mrs. Harry McAninch”, wife of (William) Harrison

‘Harry’ McAninch (born 1839-1840, Kentucky; died 21 Sept. 1928, Cass County);

they were married 18 Oct. 1866 in Ralls County, Missouri. See also the article

“McAninch for the Confederacy: Eight Who Fought for Southern Independence”, Part III,

MFHN v.X n.2 April 2002 p. 2002-12, William ‘Harry’ / ‘Henry’ McAninch p.2002-13

[12]

There are many minor discrepancies in the first two articles, “Samuel McAninch” and

“W. C. McAninch, M. D.”, which are probably typical for articles written many years later

(and, in some cases, two full generations after the actual events that are being described).
