John Wesley McAninch had a blacksmith shop in New London [1], in Howard County, and he was a Quaker, a member of the New London Meeting [46]. John Wesley McAninch died 24 Feb. 1930, in New London, and his obituary was published in the “American Friend” Quaker magazine:

“Deaths - McAninch - At his home in New London, Indiana, February 24, 1930, John W. McAninch, aged 61 years. He had been to meeting as usual, February 23, and after going home was stricken with apoplexy, lingering but a few hours. His passing came as a shock to the entire community. He was an esteemed member of New London meeting, faithful in attendance and in giving financial support. His wife, two sons and five grand-children survive him. Impressive funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Henry E. Chace, and Frank V. Stafford of Indianapolis.” [Note 46]

Their older son, Harrison Leroy McAninch (1892-1958), married Mary Catherine Boyd, 11 Sept. 1912, Howard County, and they had two children:

1. Ellen Jane McAninch (1915-1992), married Virgil Davis (no children) [1], and

2. John Boyd McAninch (1918-1993), a career Navy man, who served on submarines during W.W.II; married Vera Marie Nyburg, and had six children, five girls and one boy, Jon Boyd McAninch [1].

Their second son, Clarence Nelson McAninch (1895-1964), and his wife Bessie (Roach) McAninch (1896-1989), and their son, Clarence Nelson McAninch, Jr. (1926-1949), are also buried there, in the New London Cemetery [1].
