The Editor’s Corner

Here we are, the fourth issue of 1999, and the last issue of the “non-Millenium”. We expect to be here next year, after “Y2K”, January 1, 2000, and again a year later, after the real Millenium event in 2001.

This has been a busy year, and I wish to thank all of you again for your help and information, and your patience during the busy times. In the tradition of the Chinese calendar, with its “Year of the Monkey”, etc., this has been our “Year of the Daughters-in-Law”. Last winter, in the deep cold and snow of far upstate New York, son Kevin (Capt., U.S. Army) married Chely (Celia) Barclay, and now he’s back in Bosnia for six months. This month, October 2nd, son David (architectural designer) married Tammy Lyn Candella; after the honeymoon on Maui, they will continue living in Surf City, Huntington Beach.

Alas, one Tuesday evening in August, we suffered the most-crippling failure of this information age – total failure of our computer hard drive (“on a clear disk, you can seek forever …”). Fortunately, we do regular back ups, and have current copies of all databases, newsletters, and correspondence files. However, we lost the Email address book, and all of the actual Email messages from calendar 1999. So, we are re-building the Email address book; if you have not heard from us lately, or you think that we missed something in August, please send a new Email message, and we’ll re-confirm it with you.
