Note: This accounts for about 24 acres of the 40 acres in NW¼, SW¼, Section 10. I don’t know what happened to the other 16 acres (the remainder of North ½, NW¼, SW¼, S10, T67N, R29W)

 

1884: The following is a copy of a document filed by Joseph McAninch more than 10 years after he sold the land. The purpose may have been to convey a clear title to the purchasers (Source, Note 4).

 

Affidavit, State of Iowa, Ringgold County

“I Joseph McAninch on oath say that I am one of the heirs of Samuel McAninch that on the 11 day of May 1860 the following described lands were conveyed to the heirs at law of Samuel McAninch to wit

W2 SE4 Sec 35 Town 68 Range 29 and

East 2 SW4 Sec 2 and NW4 SW4 Sec 10 Township 67 Range 29 West

That said conveyance was made by John Harlan and Arminta Harlan (Nee McAninch) and conveyance reads as follows “convey to the heirs of Samuel McAninch Late of Hendricks County State of Indiana without impairing our own right as heirs at law of Samuel McAninch”.

That the Names of the heirs who were the grantees understood in said conveyance are as follows

Elisha McAninch, Daniel McAninch, Joseph McAninch, John McAninch, Enoch G. McAninch, Samuel J. McAninch, William S. McAninch. These were all of the sons of Samuel McAninch Dec.

Sarah McAninch, Hannah McAninch, Elizabeth Parmelia [sic] McAninch (who has never married), Mary S. McAninch and Arminta McAninch the wife of John S. Harlan above named.
