McAninch Land Records in Early Armstrong County, Pennsylvania

 

I. Charles Campbell Articles with John McAninch; 1795, 1808, and 1812, recorded 1826

 

Articles of agreement made between Charles Campbell of Westmoreland County and State of

Pennsylvania of the one part and John McAninch of the County and State affor[said] of the other part Witnesseth ... Set unto said John and his heirs and assigns, a certain tract of land ... north and west of the Allegheny River in Allegheny County for the term of five years and after the settling of the same ... John McAninch doth covenant ... to make ... actual settlement thereon by clearing fencing cultivating ... and residing with a family ... agreeably to an act of assembly ... made and provided for settling the lands and the said Charles Campbell doth hereby covenant and agree ... with said John McAninch his heirs and assigns that at the expiration of the five years he ... Charles Campbell is to make or cause to be made unto ... John his heirs and assigns a good and sufficient deed in fee simple at ... Campbell’s own cost for one hundred and fifty acres of land wherein his improvement may be made as a gratuity In witness whereof ... have hereunto set their hands and seals this 20th day of December A.D. 1795.

Before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said County came Charles Campbell and John McAninch the parties to the above contract and personally acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and desired that it might be recorded as such.

Witness my hand and seal this 25 Sep. 1812.

It is hereby agreed ... between ... Charles Campbell and ... John McAninch that ... McInch [sic] doth give up to ... Charles Campbell all his right and title of in and to the whole of the tract of land ... except seventy five acres with the usual allowances and to include ... McInch [sic] improvements ... Campbell shall have full power to take possession of the remainder of the tract and to work ... it at his pleasure and to have as full power as I myself ... under my hand and seal this thirteenth day of Sept. 1808

II. William McIninch to Mordekiah McDonald; 1796, 1806, recorded 1808

 

Know all men by these presents that I, William McNinch [sic] of Armstrong County, Buffalo

Township, and State of Pennsylvania for ... three hundred dollars ... hath granted, bargained and sold ... to Mordekiah McDonald ... a certain tract or parcel of land situate north west of Allegheny River ... claimed by virtue of settlement and an article of agreement made with Archd. McCall [Archibald] Merchant of the City of Philadelphia, on the twenty-ninth day of November, one thousand seven hundred and ninety six, it being the same tract which I the said McNinch now lives on joining lands settled by Frederick [surname C or G? Cremase?], John Bu[zard?] and Caleb Pecock [Polock?], ... In witness whereof I have set my hand at this ninth day of July one thousand and eight hundred and six.
