Three More Indiana Land Transactions, 1839-1841, Hendricks County

 

1. October 10, 1839: John Knox & Barnard Jackman to Samuel McAninch & Joseph S. Rush:

This indenture ... between John Knox and Bernard [J?]ackman of the County of Hendricks and State of Indiana of the one part and Samuel McAninch [and] Joseph S. Rush of the County of Hendricks and State of Indiana of the other part ... [for] Five hundred fifty dollars lawful money of the United States ... parcel or lot of land ... the County of Hendricks ...

the East half of the South west quarter of section sixteen Township No. Fourteen north of Range two West containing 80 acres be the same more or less. …

Provided ... the said partys of the first part their heirs executors or administrators shall [pay] or cause to be paid unto the said partys of the second part ... five hundred and fifty dollars on or before the seventeenth day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and forty seven then the foregoing indenture ... shall cease and be null and void. But in case of non payment .... partys of the second part their heirs executors administrators or assigns Shall and may foreclose the Equity of redemption in this Indenture ... have hereunto [set] their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.

2. October 10, 1839: Silas Bryant to Samuel McAninch:

This indenture ... Between Silas Bryant of the County of Hendricks ... and Samuel McAninch of the County of Hendricks ... [for] Five hundred Dollars ... land ... in the County of Hendricks ... to wit

The North west quarter of the North West quarter of the North East quarter of Section Nine in Township No. f[unreadable] North of Range Two West also the South East quarter of the North west quarter of Section Nine Township fourteen and North of Range two West the whole supposed to contain Eighty acres be the same more or less ...

said Silas Bryant and Nancy Bryant his wife who relinquishes all her right and title to dower in ... described premises of the first part have hereunto set their hands …

Personally appeared before me ... a Justice of the Peace of said County Silas Bryant ... And also Nancy Bryant the wife ... separately examined apart from him ... she did declare that she did voluntarily and of her own free will and accord and as her act and deed signed and delivered the said deed of conveyance [with] out any fear coercion or compulsion from her husband.

This indenture ... [between] Charles G. Palmer of the county of Marion and state of Indiana ... and Daniel McAninch of the county of Putnam and state of Indiana ... three hundred Dollars ... pieces or parcels of land ... in the county of Hendricks and state of Indiana ... being the

South half of the North East quarter of section six (6) in Township sixteen (16) of range one west
