1836: Grant to Samuel McAninch, 135 acres, Casey County [Survey No.] 16389

James T. Morehead, Esq., Lieut. + acting Governor of the Commonwealth of Ky.

To all to whom these [presents] [shall] come greeting  know ye that by virtue and in

consideration of a Certificate No. 14 the State [forces?] paid without Interest granted

by the County Court of Lincoln in 1801 [agreeably] to an act of assembly for settling

and improving the vacant lands of this Commonwealth there is granted by the said

Commonwealth unto Samuel McAninch ass[ign]ee of Isaac Trowbridge ass[ign]ee of

William McAninch who was ass[ign]ee of George Humphrey a certain tract + parcel of

land containing one hundred and thirty five acres by survey bearing date the 13th day

of August 1813 lying and being in the County of Casey on the Rock Lick fork of Fishing

Creek and bounded as followeth to wit  

Beginning on William McAninches line on a white oak and dogwood thence running with

said line S 56 W 100 poles to two ashes thence S 20 poles to an ash and white oak

thence S [40] [E] 150 poles to a black oak and hickory thence S [70] E [30] poles a

black oak and gum thence N 41 E 118 poles to three white oaks thence N [48] W 165

poles to the Beginning

with its appurtenances to [have and to hold the] said tract + parcel of land with its

appurtenances [end page 449] to the said Samuel McAninch and his heirs forever

In witness whereof the said James T. Morehead Esq. acting Governor of the

Commonwealth of Ky. hath hereunto set his hand and caused the seal of the said

Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the 20th day of January in the year of

our Lord 1836 and of the Commonwealth the forty fourth.

Note 1836-1: Why did Samuel wait until 1836 to document his Land Grant?

[definitely Samuel "Indiana" McAninch, b. 1789, age 47 in 1836, gets land in

Hendricks County, Indiana, 1832; this parcel in Casey County surveyed in 1813

(above), sold this land in 1844 (below). Samuel died 1859 in Indiana.]

 

1840: Grant to William McAninch, 286 acres, Pulaski County [Survey?]

Charles A. Wickcliffe Esq. Lieut. + acting Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

To all to whom these presents shall come  greetings  know ye that by virtue and in

consideration of a Certificate No. 406 granted the State [forces?] paid without Interest

granted by the County Court of Pulaski in 1802 agreeably to an act of Assembly for

settling and improving the vacant lands of the Commonwealth there is granted by the

said Commonwealth unto William McIninch [sic] ass[ign]ee of Caleb Brown a certain

tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and eighty-six acres by survey having

date the 29th day of June [1807?] lying and being in the County of Pulaski on the

waters of the Rock Lick Creek a branch of Fishing Creek.

Beginning on a [poplar?] + running N 20 E 92 poles to a white oak N 12 W 94 poles to

a [chestnut?] N 41 E 62 poles to a white oak in William McIninchs line thence with

McIninchs line N 3 W 58 poles to two ash trees McIninchs corner N 41 E 112 poles to

a white oak N 20 E 50 poles to two poplars N 10 W 140[14?] poles to a hickory S 15

W 370 poles to [_?_?_] S 27 E 180 poles to the Beginning

With its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its

appurtenances to the said William McIninch and his heirs forever

In witness whereof the C. A. Wickliffe Esq. Lieut. + acting Governor of the

Commonwealth of Ky. hath hereunto set his hand and caused the seal of said

Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the 4th day of March in the year of

our Lord 1840 and of the Commonwealth the forty eighth.

Note 1840-1: The original William McAninch [b.Bef.1765] died 1813, named five sons

in his will. His widow Laodieca re-married in 1815, Pulaski County. Why did William's

heirs wait until 1840 to document this Land Grant?
