1828: This indenture made and entered into this 16th day of Oct. 1828 between

William McAninch and Margaret his wife of the county of Pulaski and state of Kentucky

of the one part and Larkin Carter of the county of Casey and state aforesaid of the

other part witnesseth:

that the said William McAninch and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of the

sum of two hundred and fifteen dollars to him in hand paid by the said Larkin Carter,

the receipt whereof the said William McAninch doth hereby acknowledge hath granted

bargained and sold and by these presents doth hereby grant bargain sell and convey

unto the said Larkin Carter his heirs and assigns forever certain tract or parcel of land

lying in the county of Casey and state aforesaid on the dividing ridge between the

head waters of South fork of Green River and the waters of the rock lick fork of

Fishing creek patented to James Walker by patent bearing date the ninth day of June

1826 and bounded as followeth to wit

[page 177] Beginning at a sugar tree and hickory Landen Davis corner of one hundred

acre survey, thence N. 57 E. 136 poles to two poplars and hickory thence N. 49 W. 84

poles to a sugar tree ash and sapling thence N. 78 W. 60 poles to two chestnut trees,

thence N. 52 W. 72 poles to a chestnut dogwood and black gum, thence S. 45 W.

20 poles to a black gum, thence S. 20 E. 177 poles to the beginning. To have and to

hold the said tract or parcel of land with all and singular its appurtenances thereunto

belonging unto the said Larkin Carter his heirs and assigns forever and against the

claims of the said William McAninch and Margaret his wife their heirs and assigns forever

and against the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever.

In testimony whereof the said William McAninch and Margaret his wife have hereunto

set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.

Reuben Baldock, and James Walker two justices of the peace in and for Casey county

do hereby certify that this indenture of bargain and sale from William McAninch and

Margaret his wife to Larkin Carter as produced to us on the 16th day of Oct., 1828,

which was acknowledged by the said William McAninch and Margaret his wife parties

thereto to be their act and deed, and the said Margaret McAninch being by us

examined separately and apart from her said husband Wm. McAninch as the law directs, relinquished her right of dower to the land herein mentioned. Given under our hands

the day and year first above written.

I do certify that on the 24th day of June 1829 this indenture from William McAninch

and Margaret his wife to Larkin Carter was produced to me in my office with the

justices certificates thereto annexed, whereupon the said deed with the annexed and

foregoing certificates are truly recorded in my office.
